Monogram Monday!

I think I'm going to try doing something new on Mondays.  Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE monograms.  If I can smack a monogram on it, there will be a monogram on it.  No clue where this obsession came from but it's here to stay.  I'd probably even consider marrying someone with a last name that starts with the same letter as my current last name just to avoid having to change things.  Not sure what that says about me but I love my monogrammed goodies.

Here are some of the lust worthy monogrammed items I'm currently coveting...

While I could go on forever about everything monogrammed, my bank account would probably rather I stop.  Then again, the holidays are fast approaching. ;)

Ten Years Later

It's hard to believe that it has been ten years since the fateful day that changed America.  Ten years ago today America paused and came together to love and support one another during a time we needed it most.

Looking back on September 11, 2001, I had no idea at the time of what was going on.  I remember my teacher leaving my sixth grade math class to join the other teachers in the hall.  When she came back in she was crying but continued teaching.  I didn't find out what happened until my mom picked me up from school that day.  I saw some of the footage later that evening when my dad was watching the news, and I recall crying when they showed the streets of New York City and the devastation the city was left to deal with.  Today I still can't watch any of the footage.  It breaks my heart to think about the mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, and friends that didn't make it home that evening.

Earlier this week NBC had a piece about a family whose mother did not make it home that day.  I know there are many stories like this but there was something extremely touching to me about the outlook this father has.  This one quote said everything to me:

"When my kids smile, the terrorists lose.."

What an amazing way to view the whole situation.  The Alonso family is full of so much faith, hope, and love.  I can't believe how strong this family is.  I love the devotion that Mr. Alonso has for his children and the love he had for his wife.

Please take the time to read the story and watch the clip.  I promise you'll be touched and it will remind you of what's really important in this world.

Regardless of political affiliation or religious beliefs, today is a day to be thankful and to pray for our leaders, the survivors, the families, our soldiers, and those who never made it home that day.  My heart goes out to the families that were affected that day as well as those who have been affected since then.

Take the time to tell those you love how much they mean to you.  We can never know what tomorrow will bring.

Gameday in the Classic City!

Today is the first home game for Dawgs for the 2011 Season!  I also realized it would be my last first home game as a student. :(

I'm beyond excited about tailgating and the game.  Here's to hoping for the best season in recent memory! GO DAWGS!

Dawgs for the win!

Dancing in the Rain

After being spoiled with a week of beautiful weather, it seems that the rainy days are back in Athens. While I wish I was wearing sandals, what I really need right now is a pair of rainboots. All my friends have cute pairs but for some reason I've just never found a pair that I love.  And every time it rains, I regret this.  A few days ago, College Prep featured these really cute rainboots that are MONOGRAMMED.  Unfortunately, I'm thinking they might be just a little too over the top... even for me.

These boots by Zou Baby could be precious for rainy days.  And for $89 they're actually cheaper than a pair of Hunter Rainboots.

Wanted this Spring: Sandals

While there are many things I love about spring and summer, there are few things I love more than a new pair of sandals.  Thankfully a few new pairs can even fit into this college girl's budget.  ;)

I'm really liking these coral sandals from Target.  I'm hoping they'll be more coral than orange.  But for $15 I can deal with them.  I also love that Target's sandals always come in a TON of colors. I'm thinking about a pair in this color and maybe a basic like white or silver.

But the pair of sandals that I REALLY want for this spring/summer are a pair of Jack Rogers Navajos in Platinum. I feel like these sandals have been every where lately and I would love to get a pair.  Does anyone have a pair? Do you like them? I feel like they would go great with so many things I already have in my closet.
I would really love to order these from Nordstrom right now....Is it bad that I'm considering it?

Anyone else have any spring must haves that they're wanting right now?

Passing time with Lilly...

Pulitzer, of course.  I may be a little late to the Lilly party but better late than never.  This past Christmas I received the Make Up Bag in Hotty Pink and I LOVE it.  While I should be studying for midterms, I've been spending a lot of time contemplating some new Lilly that I would love to have before Spring Break...

As much as I'd love to order this dress right now, I'm not so sure my college budget would appreciate it.  Instead of dropping three hundred bucks, I think I'll stick to a few more budget friendly Lilly items this year. Maybe one day, but until then...

A few of these koozies and one of these sunglass straps will definitely be in my new tote two weeks from now when I head to this city...

Charleston, S.C.!!! I can't wait!

Welcome to My Blog!

After spending a few months religiously reading some other blogs, I felt like it might be time to give blogging a try.  I figured the easiest way to start off my posts might be to tell everyone a little bit about myself... even though I should probably be studying for my Real Estate test tomorrow.

The Top Five Things to Know About this Southern Redhead:

1. I go to the best university in the South.

The University of Georgia! (Go Dawgs!!!)

2. I'm a Junior studying Political Science.

The beautiful building that houses SPIA at UGA.  One of my favorite buildings on campus.

3. I'm a Republican.
I'm going to try to keep this blog as apolitical as possible, but I believe in full disclosure.

4. I love Target.
Chances are that if you can't find me, this is probably where I am.  And there's no way to leave this store without buying at least something little...

5.  I can't wake up without my Coke Zero with Cherry.
Have you had this stuff? If not, you're seriously missing out.

Now I better get off to studying for that test.  Failing the first test probably wouldn't be the best way to start off the new class. Here's to a great week!
